Job at AMN: Owner / HR / Network Director
Age: 21

***The following is a short bio about my online history, getting involved with performing business over the internet, and of course a bit about myself.***
In my younger years, I played videogames but was never a serious gamer. My cousin owned Atari and we dabbled. Another cousin owned NES and for sake of having nothing better to do, we played that nearly every time we got together. My parents bought me a Sega Genesis and that was not only the start of my gaming obsession but the first of many years to come as a Sega fanboy. I remained a devout Sega fanboy from that day until Sega announced their departure from the console war. At that point I gradually switched my loyalty to Nintendo only shortly after to realize that fanboyism is a fairly ignorant and painful undertaking, for obvious reasons.

Going back to the beginning, I started writing for a Dreamcast fansite called Unofficial Dreamcast Webzine. Well before Dreamcast even launched, I was writing previews and later moved my way to becoming a news editor. I remember liking the idea of being able to publish more stories in a shorter amount of time. But at that time, I would write and publish about whatever I felt like – including such newsworthy stories as “10 reasons why PlayStation Poo will suck.” I later became co-owner of the same Dreamcast site alongside Jason Triplett. We later changed the name of the site to Ultimate Dreamcast Webzine (UDCW) and started to move towards a more professional style of writing and journalistic integrity.

Starting at an early age, I’ve built series of valuable human, time and resource management skills that I’ve put into practice and build upon each and every day. Jumping forward, we all know what happened with Sega’s position in the console war. By that time, I had become the sole owner of UDCW and had decided to transition my loyalty to Nintendo and support their upcoming home console; and thus GameCube Advanced was born. I eventually came in contact with our very own Sean O’Neill via email to discuss a site merger. Looking back, I’ll tease Sean that his site was failing and I took him under my wing. Funny thing is, neither site was particularly visited that frequent and at the time we were nothing more than a couple of highly motivated guys with big dreams.
After a couple years of working together, we made our way to the top of the fansite ladder alongside the ranks of the at-the-time premier Nintendo fansites such as Nintendojo, N-Philes, and the always great Planet Gamecube. At that point we had to decide to take our efforts to the next level or part ways and remember the immeasurable experience and priceless memories.

Why in the world would we have called it quits when the staff we had then is the same staff we have today? These are the same talented group of individuals we have grown with not only in age, but with experience, wisdom and a shared vision. So after continuous dedication and painstaking persistence to reach, break and recreate our goals time and time again — here we are today. Today we’re hard at work developing our much promised and much anticipated 2.0 re-launch. I could go on forever on what it may or may not be for each of you reading this – but simply stay tuned and find out for yourselves. 2.0 and beyond, we will always strive to better ourselves and reach for the stars while using you the reader as our main source of motivation.
Even though this company’s focus still remains in the videogame industry, we are quickly moving out of those limitations. 2005 for us brought fourth a great deal of added expansion in the game industry. 2006 will mark a big year with our expansion to the rest of the entertainment world. This company is my hobby, my job and my dreams. But for the sake of not sounding obsessed, I also love to make amateur movie spoofs (perhaps sometime soon I’ll have a way to be able to show some of them off). I love and am good at most all sports, especially soccer. I love my family and friends and I love my girlfriend. I read educational business novels and I watch a great deal of movies.
With my head way in the clouds, perhaps one day Advanced Media will be involved in the motion picture industry showing up the rest of Hollywood. Maybe one day we’ll be an internet software developer and publisher that will be used by thousands. Only time will tell.
This is a terribly difficult question for me to answer. There are individuals I admire such as Jim Carrey, but I wouldn’t consider him or anybody else a hero. I look to people for inspiration and motivation to always better myself. I take negative influences in my life and use it as motivation to do the opposite or to learn from others mistakes. The greatest positive influences in my life that I can always look back upon for inspiration would easily be my parents. To learn from their mistakes and their achievements, to make them proud of mine, and to be able to take care of them one day as they have me.

I swam competitively for the better half of my life and for those of you who know anything about competitive swimming, that means I wore a Speedo bathing suit. Don’t worry, I won’t include any pictures.
Oh gosh, I could go on forever with this. To keep it short, what I’m most proud of is the accomplishments that we have all conquered together. AMN is one of the few that can claim that they started from ground zero with no budget or financial support. It was started from my parent’s home office, my basement, and the individual computers of all those who have worked to make AMN what it is today. I get goose bumps thinking about where we will be in a year, two years, and several years after that. Not knowing where we will end up but being confident that we’re on the right path is an extremely exhilarating feeling and emotion that I couldn’t begin to describe.

E3 2003

Meeting Sean O’Neill and the rest of the AMN (at the time GCA) crew at my first E3. I was sitting outside on a bench near our hotel and waiting for my crew to walk around the corner to have our first in-person confrontation. It was like being a young kid on Christmas morning. I’ve had several memorable moments with this company that I could share (perhaps sometime soon I’ll have a better way to be able to share some of my experiences with you) but I’m also equally looking forward to creating new memories.
