“… just let me throw on a pair of pants”
“… look at this new pair of pants I just bought”
“…pair of underwear?!?”
You get the idea. I’m pretty sure we all say it. Is it grammatically correct to say, “A pair of pants”? I get the idea of saying a pair of socks, or a pair of shoes. They are two individual items paired together.
Just one of those random off the wall thoughts I had today that I couldn’t explain. If there is no answer and just something that is said… fine. Certainly you don’t go around saying a UNIT of underwear. That would just sound rediculous.
…Maybe just one of those things.
