“Bocce is a precision sport closely related to bowls and pétanque with a common ancestry from ancient games played in the Roman Empire. Developed into its present form in Italy, it is played around Europe and also in overseas countries that have received Italian migrants, including the United States, Canada, Australia, Brazil and Argentina (where it’s known as bochas), initially amongst the migrants themselves but slowly becoming more popular with their descendants and the wider community.”

Now that we all know what Bocce Ball is — let me say that it rocks! One sport you can play with old people and actually get a challenge from. I played 4-5 games yesterday and it was fantastic. Doesn’t matter what sport it is — i’m so freakin competitive that it turns into world cup match by end of the game. Oh… and I hate to loose.

Think if it along the same lines of Bowling…. a guilty pleasure. I rec. giving it a try sometime if you can get your hands on a set and find somebody to play with. A fantastic game to play when you’re at one of those boring family gatherings and you don’t want to hear everybody talk about their sauce recipee or hair loss or boring married couple crap. (Chris Rock says it best). Invite the old folks to play some Bocce Ball.

 You’ll thank me later.
