Long story short, I accidentally fell into my pool and destroyed my first generation iPhone. I was one of the fools who waited in line on launch day to be one of the first to get the new phone. And yes, I paid over $600. After three iPhone’s (never paid for one of the replacements), $100 store credit rebate, and various bugs and system restoring sessions, I was finally forced to upgrade to the new 3G iPhone.

I was planning to upgrade eventually but I was also planning to sell my old iPhone on eBay to make up and exceed the cost of the 3G version. Right now, first generation iPhone’s are selling for more than what the new ones cost because they’re so easy to hack. So I lost out on that opportunity and had to fork up the cash (or credit for that matter) to get the new iPhone.

All in all, I’m pleased with the new model. Not many differences, but it is twice as fast and half the price. If you have a first generation iPhone and planning to upgrade, make sure you sell your old model! You can get around $300+ for it!
